"It was a
combination of photos like this reminding me of where my health was heading
along with the ever lasting desire to get more from my life that struck my
2011 new years resolution of getting back
into shape. All through my childhood and high school, sports played a large
role in my life. My involvement in sports always supplied a nice dose of healthy
competition as well as teaching me teamwork and self-discipline. Since then I
have had an on-again-off-again relationship with sports and fitness. My story
is very similar to many others… I had the desire to get into shape but it
would only last a few months before ‘life’ would get in the
way.
In 2010, I
moved to the United States from Australia with my husband and tried to get
into shape by going to a regular gym. This lasted a few months but with my
poor diet and lack of motivation, I got bored very quickly. After doing some
local research I ended up at Double Dose Muay Thai's door. I was given a gym
tour by the gym staff and found them to be incredibly humble and down to
earth and by that night I had returned for an introductory class and signed
up. Ever since that night I have attended the classes between 3 and 6 days
per week and never looked back. The physical changes are obvious but it is
really the changes that you don’t see from the outside that amaze
me.
Double
Dose Muay Thai & Fitness have provided
me with confidence, self respect, motivation and a true understanding of what
happens when you are not afraid to put in the hard work. There is a major
difference between attending a ‘gym’ and being part of a school that treats
you like family.
I have
endured some of
